PROVIDENCE, RI — Family, friends, and loved ones across New England are grieving the heartbreaking loss of Tyler Paul McMahon, 27, who tragically died by suicide on June 10, 2025, at his home in Providence. Tyler’s passing has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew him — a young man remembered for his brilliance, warmth, and infectious zest for life.
Born July 17, 1997, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Tyler grew up in Sandwich, Massachusetts, where he attended public schools and quickly became known for his sharp mind, boundless energy, and vibrant spirit. From the classrooms of Sandwich to the campuses of UMass Amherst, Tyler left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
After earning his undergraduate and business degrees from UMass, Tyler moved to Providence, Rhode Island, where he began a promising career in business and finance. Colleagues describe him as an irreplaceable presence in the workplace — someone whose enthusiasm, insight, and ability to bring people together made each day brighter.
Tyler’s personality was magnetic. He was known for his quick wit, big heart, and a laugh that could lift any room. Friends recall his signature catchphrase — “Let’s gooooo!” — always shouted with glee and an adventurous spark that reflected how he approached life.
He was a passionate outdoorsman and an avid traveler, with a deep appreciation for golf, tennis, hiking, and exploring new places. He spent a year studying in the Middle East and was fluent in Arabic — a reflection of his intellectual curiosity and global outlook.
Tyler’s love for his family was the foundation of his life. He is survived by his devoted parents, Lynda and Terence McMahon of Sandwich, and his cherished siblings, Terry and Tori, along with Tori’s fiancé Jordan Schemenaur, whom Tyler lovingly referred to as the “alleged fiancé.” His relationship with his older brother Terry, who has special needs, was especially close — built on admiration, protection, and an unbreakable bond.
He shared a uniquely deep connection with his mother, Lynda, often cooking elaborate meals and crafting cocktails together — moments of love, creativity, and laughter. With his father, Terence, he shared a mutual passion for golf and Liverpool FC, their bond rooted in humor, loyalty, and a shared spirit.
Tyler is also remembered by a wide and loving extended family, including dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends who admired his character and cherished his presence. His legacy is further carried by his closest friends — Hunter, Colin, Spencer, Jacob, Matt, and Patrick — as well as his beloved football teammates, college friends, and “spare sister” Sydney Boden.
In a time of increasing awareness around mental health, Tyler’s passing serves as a solemn reminder that many battles are fought quietly. While his joy was genuine, his struggle was real — and his life, full of love and light, will not be defined by its end, but by the profound impact he had on others.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish in Sandwich, MA, followed by a Celebration of Life at The Local in Sandwich. All who knew and loved Tyler are invited to attend and share in the memories of a life lived with passion and heart.
Tyler Paul McMahon will forever be remembered for his compassion, brilliance, and humor. His voice, his smile, and his rallying cry — “Let’s gooooo!” — will echo in the hearts of those he loved, encouraging us all to live fully, love deeply, and carry his light forward.
